ABOUT School of Industrial Arts was established in 1993 as one of the new departments of Anadolu University. The school's education program consists of one-year elective English Preparation School followed by four years of undergraduate program. Education in Industrial Design and Fashion Design departments started respectively in 2000 and 2001. Academic and technical staff, design studios aiming application based education, workshops and computer laboratories; all, constitute the basis of the programs in the school. Computer laboratories serve the students who need to use the high technology equipment and advanced modelling software. The purpose of the school is to train qualified designers who hav both technical and aesthetic knowledge, needed by national and international establishments. In globalized world, concept of Industrial design gets an important place in production, while products get importance both in function and in aesthetic by increasing competition in markets. Definition of industrial design, which is designing and making visual and functional definition of every mass produced products, emphasizes the place of this science in in dustrial field. In Industrial Design Department; which established in 2000; computer aided design education which is a requirement of contemporary design education, is supported by softwares which are products of latest technology. Design studios, computer laboratories and workshops supply transition from theory to application. Students graduated from Industrial Design Department get the title of INDUSTRIAL DESİGNER. They can work as freelance designers and as designers in firms and government establishments' research and development departments and also in design studios. |

| EDUCATION PROGRAMMES B.S. (Bachelor of Science) For B.S. (Bachelor of Science), students are selected by National University Entrance Examination and 30 students are admitted each year. Normal duration is four years. In addition, students who fail to pass an English test must attend a one-year English preparatory school and pass it before taking the department courses. Students must take and pass all necessary courses and reach a minimum GPA (Graduate Point Average) of 2.00 before she/he can graduate. All B.S. students are required to perform summer practice as a part of graduation requirements. They must complete a summer practice of at least 60 working days. This course is not included in undergraduate curriculum since it does not carry any credits. Report prepared at the end of summer practice should reFlect both the practical experience and the knowledge gained in the practice taken during the design education. The department also offers the postgraduate program of M.S. (Master of Science). The degree from the program is awarded by the Graduate School of Science. For M.S. program, the university and the department announce its own requirements for selecting students. M.S. (Master of Science) The students will be required to prepare and orally defend a thesis based on their research. Students require approximately two years to complete the Master of Science degree. |

| FOREIGN RELATIONS Anadolu University is an active participant in European Union Education and Youth Programs. Anadolu University is member of the Erasmus Project. The aim of this project is to enable students, undergraduate and graduate, to take courses in different universities of member countries. Anadolu University has agreements with over 30 European universities and student exchanges are ongoing. The projects submitted for the Leonardo da Vinci Project have been approved and both student and faculty exchange programs have been established in relation to the program. Anadolu University has joint projects and programs not only with Turkish universities but also various universities around the world. Such projects and programs include cooperation in science, arts, and culture as well as student and faculty exchange. The MBA program in Koln University is a joint program where faculty members of both Anadolu University and Koln University conduct courses. Anadolu University offers a non-thesis MBA program via the Internet in cooperation with SUNY-Empire State College (USA). The instruction language of this program is English. The graduates of this program receive two diplomas, one from Anadolu University and one from SUNY-Empire State College. In Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Anadolu University offers Cypriot and Turkish citizens an MA program in Business Management. The courses are conducted by the faculty members of Anadolu University. SUNY-Cortland offers an undergraduate diploma in English Language Teaching in cooperation with the Faculty of Education at Anadolu University, and an undergraduate diploma in Business Administration together with the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Anadolu University. Students in this program take first and fourth year courses at Anadolu University and second and third year courses at SUNY-Cortland. Graduates of this program receive a dual diploma from both Anadolu University and SUNY-Cortland.
